Having relocated from New York to Missouri to Massachusetts, Georgia and then to Virginia, I understand the excitement and nerves that come with being the new person in town. (I’ve spent my life being the new-girl!)
But, for the last 16 years, I’ve proudly called North Carolina home: I’ve built my life here—making lifelong friends, graduating from college (Go Niners!), and becoming a homeowner. I’ve witnessed this city evolve from a small town into a vibrant metropolis, and I consider myself a true-blue Charlottean.

Blind Move was founded in August 2021, stemming from a long-held dream of our Founder, Melissa Pratt. The journey began in 2016 when she contemplated moving to Dallas, Texas, but felt lost and in need of assistance. It was during this time that she realized she could be the support she craved for others relocating to Charlotte. The name “Blind Move Charlotte” came to her in a dream, encapsulating this vision.
Though five years passed between the initial idea and its launch, this time was crucial in shaping the core values of the company: prioritizing people over commissions. Melissa’s decade-long experience as a teacher and three years as a digital marketing strategist instilled in her the importance of genuinely caring for clients. At Blind Move Charlotte, our mission is to help people find their homes with minimal stress.
So, on August 10, 2021, Melissa launched the Blind Move Charlotte Instagram page. Since apartment locating was a novel concept in Charlotte, it was an adventurous journey to educate both clients and property managers about the vision. Through perseverance in filming and posting, she built relationships with property management companies and leasing agents. Today, Blind Move’s presence and following are steadily growing alongside the expanding apartment locating market in Charlotte.
